Celafilt AP50
Perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic rock that contains water. Its structure consists of numerous concentric layers, similar to the layers of an onion. Its natural color ranges from light pearl gray to dark gray. The distinctive feature of perlite compared to other volcanic siliceous rocks is its ability to expand up to 20 times its original volume when heated above 900°C. This expansion is due to the presence of approximately 5% water trapped within the raw ore.
Celafilt Perlite products have special permeabilities that provide varying degrees of clarity. While they function similarly to diatomaceous earth (DE), their structural density is about half that of diatomites, making them lighter. Celafilt Perlite products are commonly used for filtering edible oils, starch and glucose products, beverages, waste waters, and industrial chemicals. They are particularly preferred for liquid filtration applications that do not require high levels of clarity.
Additionally, due to their lightweight and insulating properties, they are also used as insulation materials and additives in construction chemicals.
